Obituary

Olga G. Gonzalez passed away on May 12, 2017 in Pensacola Florida at the age of 95. She lived her long life to the fullest-even as she was in failing health, she insisted (with doctors and her family) she wanted to continue to live alone at her home. The family wishes to thank her many friends who would call, come by the house and check on her from time to time-- as we all know how bound and determined she was about not going to leave the house for an assisted living/nursing facility.

She was born in Eagle Pass Texas and spent her childhood in Corpus Christi Texas. She graduated from Incarnate Word Academy in Corpus Christi.
In 1947 she married Alfonso V. Gonzalez in Corpus Christi Texas. In 1959 they relocated to Pensacola Florida and remained in Pensacola until her death.
Mom enjoyed working with flowers and as such, Our Lord called our Mother, Grandmother and Great Grand Mother on May 12th because he needed her majestic hands in heaven to fix the flowers on the angels halo's.
She worked at Cotton's Florist, Zanny's florist and Celebrations florist. She was active in the St, John's Altar Band, the Legion of Mary, and NCCW of Northwest Florida, Auxiliary of Ladies Knights of Columbus and the Birthday Club as well as well various other ministries of St John Catholic church in Warrington since 1960. She was also an active member of the Warrington Elks "Elketts".
She never met a stranger. She was always giving and trusting of all she met. She was blessed with many friends in the Warrington and Pensacola area. Many of them preceded her to their heavenly reward. As the last of the remaining "supper club" originals, what a party the supper must have had on the evening of May 12th when she got there.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, her mother and father (Eudelia and Pedro), her brother (Pedro "Pete" Gonzalez) and his wife (Gloria).
She is survived by her daughter, Gracie Colony (Steve), son, Joe Gonzalez (Daphne) of Pensacola, son Oscar Gonzalez of Austin, Texas, Susan Gonzalez (former daughter-in-law), Charlie Goodrich (former son-in-law), granddaughters Jennifer E. Gonzalez and Melodie Williams (Jake) of Pensacola and grandson, Gregory Gonzalez of Ft Worth, Texas. She is also survived by her lone great granddaughter Madison Williams of Pensacola, Florida. She is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces throughout the country and Mexico.
The family will be at Oak Lawn from 5 to 7 with rosary being recited at 6:30 pm at Oak Lawn Funeral Home on New Warrington road on May 16, 2017. Mass will be celebrated at St John's Catholic Church in Warrington on May 17, 2017, at 10:00am with burial immediately following at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola.
The family wishes to acknowledge the staff at Homestead Village and Covenant Hospice in Pensacola for their never ending support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant Hospice (Joyce Goldenberg Center) Pensacola, Florida.
